Strikeline
The Strikeline is a digital percussive instrument aimed at addressing dematerialisation through the development of a meaningful tangible interface. The frame of the Strikeline is fully dynamic and customisable, allowing users to shape and form it in whatever manner that suits their interests.
Electronic musicians customise and explore elements of their software in order to develop new and unique sounds. In reflection of this, the Strikeline attempts to offer a new level of physical dynamics to the action of performing digital music beyond elements operated within the confines of a computer screen. By constructing an instrument that users can physically craft to their liking and play with expressive digital controls, I hope to highlight the ongoing relevance of a tangible interface in the design of digitally augmented musical instruments.
